| History of Stormy Mountain Candle Stormy Mountain Candle Company was founded 24 years ago in Berlin, CT by Brian and Sharon Nelson. The Nelsons started their quest to perfect the candle-making process and succeeded in their goals of making Premium Hand-Poured Candles. Their business grew and thrived. In 2003, my wife, Jennifer, and I were looking for a Premium Hand Poured Candles to retail in our salon in Meriden, CT. After much research, we found Stormy Mountain Candle Co. We met with the Nelsons and loved what we saw. The quality of their candles was second to none. We saw that they used the highest quality wax resulting in a candle that burned efficiently and soot free. After carrying the candles in our salon for three years, Sharon Nelson called us to say they were closing the store in Berlin. We knew immediately that we would buy Stormy Mountain Candle and continue the 20-year tradition of excellence that the Nelsons had started. We worked closely with Brian Nelson to learn the secrets of creating a Stormy Mountain Candle. Our apprenticeship ended, and we moved the company to the heart of Connecticut. Our passion for making candles is strong. We continue making Quality Hand-Poured Soy Candles the old-fashioned way without the use of automated machines.
